Here is an alternate color version of this page. I havent been able to get ahead on the pages this week because of the sweet new site. So far Im digging comicpress. There are so many plugins and add ons to make the site better that Ive become a bit obsessed with optimizing and adding new features. Currently I need to figure out why its adding an archive to the side of the blog section. I have no idea where this code is right now. Also, Im trying to figure out how to get a realtime connection to my ebay store so I can post originals and have all of the inventory showing in a little sidebar widget. Just have to figure it all out.
Today I finished a nova colony comic strip for Long Beach Comic Con pamphlet. I have a feeling that this will be the best con yet for me! Mike S. from the show has been incredibly supportive in getting me passes for Jimm and Angela to be there, and the last LBCC that I went to was awesome! I did a lot of sketches for people and sold a large amount of CreeD imaginary books. I would venture to say that it was the best show id had since the 90s. Cant wait see how the October show goes!

I love, love, love color. But I warn you, color can slow ya down. I’d hate to see your incredible update schedule hurt from adding color to something that works INCREDIBLY WELL in black and white and grey. My advice.
I did a lot of color tests and, and ultimately I came to the same conclusion. Besides that, I like the look of black and white comic pages a lot more as a personal preference, AND im not going to have to do too many all nighters to keep up with it. At this point, I just dont want to make something that I stress out about getting finished every week… so this is a manageable compromise. Im glad you enjoy it!
This is where I’m at right now!!! Color DOES slow you down!! Sometimes I just want to scrap my current comic…
Sometimes I just want to scrap everything and start over too. But you gotta press on!
A plus to keeping it B&W is the cost of printing the comic is cheaper. If your comic blows up and you have some demand it’ll be cheaper to print.
That’s my thinking as well. When I did creed at image, color separations and printing drove up costs so high that a book selling 11000 copies made 0 dollars profit. In fact I think I got a bill at the end of it all.
You might think I’m nuts but I’ve been experimenting with my printer… It’s a monochrome laser print with a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. I’ve been doing some B&W manga (with tones) test at 600 dpi and the images look every bit as good as my ‘Death Note’ books!! I might just start binding my own stuff!!! Just have to fine the right paper…
