Wow. I am really loving the art of this comic! You’ve got a great handle on perspective and tones. I clicked on an ad on Top Web Comics because the art looked nice! Really looking forward to seeing how the story progresses :) Keep up the great work!
That ad on Topwebcomics has brought a WHOLE lot of readers to the site. A lot of spam too… but I signed up for Akismet which blocks most of that. Youre obviously not a spambot tho. So im really grateful that you took the time to comment! Thanks for coming by, and I hope to see you again next week!
The title implies that Mao is going to become some sort of monk vampire. (JK)
I like how this story is shaping! You’ve got yourself another reader.
well, hes never going to twinkle in the sunlight. Dont worry, theres a much better reason for the name Twilight Monk in this story.
HAH! That one made me laugh!
Looking forward to more! I love this, it reminds me a bit of what it felt like to play Jak and Daxter; a little wackyness mixed in with cute and cool. Lovely art, and the cliffhanger is killing me!
I love the old jak and daxter games! Sad that they are gone. Thanks for the comment!
I am so glad I found this comic. >.> The art style is AMAZING, beautiful and detailed yet simple enough to not be too confusing. It’s pretty easy to see what’s going on.
Also, this may seem silly, but I admire how you use thick lines too. xD So many comics these days seem terrified of using thick lines, but you pull it off beautifully. This is definitely going in my webcomic folder. <3
Thanks! The reason I use thicker lines in some places is because I like the weight of it. I also draw my pages fairly small, just to keep up with the schedule, and keep working on the book portable. Sometimes I work out on my couch or on the floor. By keeping my pages under 9×13, I can take my pages with me to a friends house or wherever. Its the digital age, so I then go in and clean it up in photoshop when I add the greys. Im glad youre enjoying the book so far!
He has that ‘I’m listening, but will kick your butt at the sightest altercation’ pose down pat!
The art is very impressive, but the story so far just reminds me of Naruto. These bird-creatures are the first thing I’ve seen so far that doesn’t scream cliché. I could be wrong, but the trouble is I don’t have much else to judge on but these fourteen pages. You should have considered putting up at least the entire first chapter (depending on how long it is) before placing an add, that way there would be more story to get the reader hooked. The standard opening scene doesn’t do it for me, which is a shame, because the art is of such a great caliber.
Im sorry that its not grabbing you yet. 13 pages isnt a lot, youre right… but its a slow and steady build. I wanted to make the intro to characters really accessible. Generally I jump right into what makes each book different right from the start, but in this case, I wanted to give people something that is easy to grasp and has some familiarity in the beginning so that they arent put off. I probably should have waited until I had a larger portion of the first issue in a finished state, and release a huge story all at once before the weekly content, but my problem, is that I will continually rework something if I dont put a deadline on it for myself.
I wanted to thank you for giving the book a chance, and for leaving your comments. I also really appreciate your honesty.
I love the artwork. Very expressive and detailed at the same time.
Thanks! Im having fun making it!
I found you because I was voting for a comic and topcomics had a advertisement for this comic. The art grabbed me and made me click the link. Uh-oh, this is a new comic. The plus is I don’t have to wade through an archive, the downside is the risk that the comic will just vanish after a few more pages. I hate when that happens. The artist could have been hit by a bus while getting art supplies. You never know what happened to him or her and the strip is just hanging there in cyberspace with no closure. I am going to add this to my read list, don’t do that; look both ways before crossing the street and have a contingency plan in effect.
Ill um… try not to get hit by a bus. Ive got at least the next 5 pages completely finished, and up to the next 80 pages roughed out and/or planned in very loose form. Right now, nothing can stop me from keeping up with this weekly schedule. Id love to promise more, but Id rather keep my goals realistic, and deliver consistently than to push myself too hard and burn out.
Meh, don’t let the negative waves get you down. I think you’re doing quite well. I, for one, would rather see the story develop well, as opposed to quickly if it cannot be both. Keep it up, I’m hooked.
AWesome character designs! I’m definitley going to pimp this on my facebook! More people need top know about it!
